Usually one of seven things went wrong, and each is preventable: it was framed as fundraising; the Prayer phase was skipped; follow-up was inadequate; the council burned out; the pastor stayed at arm’s length; the commitment weekends moved around; or the parish went silent between phases.

None of those is a failure of stewardship as an idea. They are operational failures, and the whole structure of this process exists to prevent them.
