At ISPD, we recognize that a thriving Catholic school and/or parish requires more than just strong development and advancement strategies. Our assessment process looks all areas of Operational Vitality, as outlined by the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Schools (NSBECS) and ISPD’s publication Total Parish Development. We partner with school/parish leaders to strengthen financial management, enrollment growth, facilities planning, and human resources, ensuring long-term sustainability.

These assessments are usually done at the start of one of our strategic planning processes and provide an in-depth look at your organization’s Culture of Belonging.

When invited to assess a Catholic school/parish, ISPD conducts a comprehensive study designed to evaluate and enhance all aspects of school/parish operations, providing insights, commendations, and strategic recommendations for short-term improvements and long-term growth.

Development/Enrollment Management Assessments

ISPD also provides targeted assessments for development/advancement and school enrollment management efforts.

The ISPD Assessment Process

Our five-phase assessment provides a clear and actionable snapshot of your school/parish’s current strengths and areas for growth:

Collection of key documents, including financial reports, enrollment data, publications, development plans, facility reports, and HR policies.

A structured evaluation tool covering Advancement, Financial Health, Enrollment Strategies, Facilities Planning, and Human Resources.

In-depth discussions with 25-30 key stakeholders, including school/parish leaders, faculty, staff, parents, parishioners, donors, and community partners to gather valuable perspectives.

Collaborative conversations with school/parish leadership teams, development teams, finance committees, and stewardship committees to assess alignment and strategic focus.

A detailed report including:

  • Summaries of key interview themes
  • Top 10 priority areas for immediate attention
  • Evaluation of all assessment areas (Advancement, Finance, Enrollment, Facilities, HR)
  • Strategic recommendations for both short-term improvements and long-term success
